RIVER RIDGE DENTAL - CEDAR RAPIDS, IA

Dr. Darrick Zirker is a native of Dubuque, Iowa, and a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (2007). He completed advanced training in general dentistry at Idaho State University in 2008. Before joining River Ridge Dental, Dr. Zirker served as the director of the hospital dentistry residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, mentoring dental residents in both clinical and surgical settings. He has a passion for advancing dental technology and values the long-term relationships he builds with his patients. Dr. Zirker also holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University, which enhances his ability to connect with diverse patients. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with his wife, Camille, and their four daughters. He’s an enthusiastic fan of college football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and BYU Cougars.

Dr. Megan Sabus is a general dentist who graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2023. Originally from the Cedar Rapids area, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Dr. Sabus is passionate about the artistic and technical aspects of general dentistry and values the variety it offers. She is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care while building strong connections with her patients. Dr. Sabus is a member of the American Dental Association and continually seeks to grow professionally. Outside of the dental office, she enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her husband, Jaran, and their goldendoodle, Moose. She feels fortunate to begin her dental career in her hometown and is excited to make a meaningful impact on the lives of her patients and community.

Dr. Doug Johnson was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2014. He then moved to Southern California, where he practiced aesthetic dentistry in Beverly Hills for nearly ten years. With a desire to return to his roots, Dr. Johnson moved back to Cedar Rapids, where he now focuses on treating patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. He is also a part-time faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he teaches and mentors fourth-year dental students. Dr. Johnson is passionate about helping patients achieve better sleep and overall wellness. His dedication to both clinical excellence and education makes him a valuable asset to the community and the next generation of dental professionals.
